What was the highlight of InterContinental Crete

The rooms are well appointed, clean with plenty of hangers. The “old town” is a very easy stroll where there are many good restaurants and shopping streets. The view from the hotel is lovely. There is street parking opposite the main entrance but if this is full the hotel will park your car for you. The welcome drink is great and the bar/dinning/pool venues are of high quality with wonderful water views.

great service very nice and kind crew, great location and in general we really enjoyed.

because we took shower in hot water the fire alarm turned on many times and it was very annoying.

Perfect

Everything. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, the views from the pool areas stunning, the staff a great balance of attentive whilst not being overly so and the location was perfect. It was my friend’s birthday during our trip and the hotel put so much thought into helping us to celebrate this. We will definitely be going back!

The cocktails need a little improvement.

Exceptional

Absolutely, everything was perfect. The staff were topnotch and well trained. Room exceptionally comfortable and my favourite were the turndown service each evening with a bag of soothing tea. The location was perfect. Close to everything, yet not noisy. I fell in love with the Agios Nikolaos, the Creteans are sophisticated, and people I met were a great representation of their island. I will definitely come back

Amazing location. Great pool and view. Very nice staff. Upgraded us to seaview room. Dream buffet.

First season, showerwater was not so hot because of heavy usage.

Well-appointed room with beautiful sea view over the bay and very comfortable bed. Wonderful array of hot and cold choices for breakfast. Exceptional staff, very professional and helpful in all parts of the hotel.

Beautiful hotel with great views

comfortable room, large and well designed. Great bathroom layout. huge bed and cute plunge pool. breakfast buffet was excellent and staff attentive and friendly. pool was great with a fabulous view and always able to get a sunbed. despite the hotel being on a main road, you wouldn't know it up at the pool where it was always peaceful and chilled. similarly though the hotel had many guests there was no noise in the room at all. also super peaceful and chilled. location is great. just on the edge of the part of town with loads of places to eat and grab a drink but not noisy at all. highly recommend a stay here.

the website is a bit misleading as I had though on booking that this was a beach hotel that was actually on the beach. also assumed there was parking. I almost cancelled the booking when I saw that the hotel was on a road and that the beach was a small inlet across the road and to the left of the hotel and that parking was 1.5k away. a bit of digging and reading reviews revealed that the parking was valet parking and so that was fine. I just hadn't enjoyed the thought of having to find the parking and drag the cases to the hotel after the flight! as there were plenty of sandy beaches near by and the pools were so lovely, the beach part was not an issue. also the town is pretty and has so many places to eat and drink and so the location turned out to be perfect!! glad I didn't cancel.

Great hotel. Amazing facilities, 3 phenomenal pools and an incredibly good breakfast. Room itself was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. Most of staff very friendly and helpful.

On arrival no one’s rooms were ready for the stipulated check in time, several guests were left in the bar for quite some time beyond the check in time waiting for rooms. When we were allocated a room, 10 minutes later another couple walked in, we had both been booked into the same room. This was very embarrassing and meant we had to move rooms after an already long wait. The managers attitude was not good. He was not apologetic and was not pleasant when he spoke to us, despite us being told it was the manager who had made the error that led to both us and another couple being put into the same room. The rest of the staff were very nice and friendly, unfortunately the manager let them down. It doesn’t make sense having only 1 chair on the balcony. This meant that we could not sit out around the table on the balcony together.

The location of the hotel is good

Only in some of the rooms the balcony faces the sea, in all other rooms the balconies face into the buildings around the hotel. This fact is not detailed in the room description. And what's more, in the pictures posted on the hotel's website, they only show the balconies overlooking the sea. Please note that the classic rooms do not have a view towards the sea

very outdated, friendly staff

- the staff was extremely helpful. Most spoke fluent English, and would help me with any needs. They helped me plan excursions for each day of my trip, showed me the proper bus stops i needed to be at, got rid of a giant bug on my balcony, etc. - included a free 15 minute massage - great location, very close to the bus stop, right beside the beach, lots of stops, right beside a grocery store - pool was amazing - breakfast was spectacular, lots of options

- the hotel is extremely dated. They have stucco walls throughout, slow elevator, furniture has not been changed in 20 years, carpet faded, etc. - the bed was terribly uncomfortable. You could literally feel the springs through the mattress. I woke up with the worst back pain, and had to get a mattress topper sent up because it was so uncomfortable. (I'm 23, and have been staying in hostels for 2 months. It's depressing when a 10 euro per night hostel has comfier beds) - the wait staff in the restaurant were not impressive. I would be seated for 10 minutes or so waiting for a waiter to come to my table, meanwhile a family would sit at the next table and have a server within seconds. I felt unwelcome as a solo traveler. - The fridge was not very cold and the staff were not able to lower the temperature - the walls are very thin, you could hear everything from your neighbors rooms

Everything. Artela in the pool bar was really charming.

Not a lot, food was really good and the staff were all excellent. Would have been nice to get a large beer as part of the duty free though.

Lovely stay

Amazing breakfast, spacious rooms, walking distance to town, friendly staff.

Have to find parking on the street, but we were fortunate we always found a spot. There are two lots across the street.

Nice friendly hotel located opposite the sea

Nice friendly hotel located opposite the sea (not opposite the beach as some reviews state) has a great and wide selection of food available for breakfast. Large rooms, with a nice view of the sea and side view of Agios Nikolaos harbour. Friendly staff who catered for all our needs. Great water pressure from shower but noisy when adjoining rooms are using their taps.

Didn’t have tea/coffee making facilities in bedroom considering it’s meant to be a 4* Mirror in bathroom kept steaming up even when door was slightly ajar, No soft close on toilet seat, The smell of drains from within the bathroom. The bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. Hotel is a bit dated and in need of modernisation, The carpet on the landings and stairs needs replacing, has lost its shape & colour

Staff at pool bar were excellent.

Pay for a sea view as the room we received for a late check out was not nearly as good as the room we had for our stay. Worth the extra for the sea view rooms.
